University of Louisiana Firefly In-Season use Protocol

FRIDAY: Day before game

Duration: 2 Hours

When: Home: At team hotel / Away: During Travel or at team hotel

***Teamworks reminder sent to those student athletes (assigned a firefly) reminding them of the recommended time to use it… recommended duration … and to turn it off when done

SATURDAY: Gameday

Duration: 2 Hours

When: Home: Any time after game / Away: During travel (preferably), or any time after game

SUNDAY: Day after game (Schedule lift & practice)

Duration: 2 Hours

When: Any time before scheduled lift or practice

MONDAY: Off Day

Duration: 2 Hours

Process used to assign & distribute firefly Recovery Devices (150 pair for the season):

➢ We identified our 2-deep on both offense & defense (approx. 15-20 offensive players / approx.

20-25 defensive players).

➢ Distributed Firefly recovery devices on a Friday (each student athlete was instructed on how to apply and operate Firefly recovery device). Each student athlete was also given a handout on how to operate the firefly recovery device as well as the schedule above detailing when & how long to use them.

➢ We put a schedule together on when we would re-distribute Fireflys throughout the season (using the schedule above)

➢ Re-distributed Fireflies every 3- 4 weeks throughout the season.
